Hi everybody i'm doctor nick

Hey, i got another assignment after a very very long hiatus.

The thing i'm going to be talking about is internet ownership.

The idea behind this issue is that once someone puts something up online, people tend to take it. This is the problem with the internet, when something is out there, it's gone. It now belongs to anyone who wants to pick it up.

This creates an incredibly cool aspect on the internet: many people can team up to create singular works of art, or entertainment. Newgrounds.com is a website in which authors from all over the world can contribute to making projects such as flash movies with which millions of people use to distract themselves daily.

This is the cool side of internet sharing; artists getting together in order to help each other out.

The not cool side is really annoying though. This is the youtube syndrome. The youtube syndrome occurs whenever something really cool comes out on youtube. People think it's cool, and then decide to make their own versions or responses to it. Eventually critical mass is reached and youtube is filled with useless crap that noone cares about and has nothing to do with the original posting.

So when something goes out in my personal opinion it is out there, but the original version should stay unmolested. All homages of something should link you back to the original, and all of those homages should be presenting some completely new perspective on the piece in question. If it's already been said, move on, don't make another music video for Kurt Cobain, he has enough already.

Other photo blogs

K, for our last assignment i had to choose a couple of blogs which are similar to mine. The first one i chose is this: http://www.dianevarner.com/index.php?showimage=484.
The first thing you will notice is that it is all photos. It is a photo blog meaning that the "writer" of the blog simply takes photos and then edits and arranges them. This is quite different from my blog because in mine i comment about my photos, instead of only giving them titles. I do this mainly to express feelings and observe the progress of my photo taking ability. However, this person is doing their blog purely for their love of photography, which is in my opinion a more pure reason than mine.
Another thing you will notice is that the photos are like a billion times better than mine. This could be due to many factors such as a better camera, better editing equipment, but also a better sense of what is photoworthy.

http://despod.blogspot.com/
This next blog is much closer to mine in concept, but is, sadly enough, not as good in execution. This person takes alot more photos than they have words, but there still aren't many photos! I think, from an amateur's perspective, that he should either take more photos or write more on the photos he chooses.

This excercise is hopefully going to help me choose my direction. I want a different kind of blog than either of these. I will use good singular photos, along with lots of text pertaining to the photos. I guess i can improve by taking better photos, hopefully i'll be able to write more on them.

Hopefully easier to pronounce than that guys name...

Yep, another retouched photo. I think i did a good job on that, which is a definite sign of improvement, but i don't think i did such a good job on choosing a good photo. My plan of simply taking photos as i go along hasn't been working out so well. Possibly because i don't take enough, and possibly because i don't go out enough. I think i'll try to rectify that from now on.

As for this photo, the most interesting thing about it is the grass. It is absolutely green, and looks like an incredible expanse, inside of the context of the photo. But the grass really isn't the pictures focus. The grass provides a background for the tree, which is busy in the middle lookin majestically alone. Majestic because it's large and seems like it belongs there, but alone because it's the only one, obviously. There's not much else i think to say about this photo.

I wish i could get pictures like this: http://html.beksinski.com.pl/images/galeria/fantastyczny3/79_01000.jpg, but those aren't real. I love this guy's artwork though. He started out with painting but then moved to graphic art. I can't remember how i found it.... but here's his bio on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beksinski, man polish names are hard to pronounce.

No interview up

About the interview thing....
My partner dropped, so there's not interview up about me. Iono how i feel about that. On one hand i hate to miss a chance to talk about myself, but on the other i just don't care. I feel anyone who wants to get to know me can just ask, but usually people either get worn out with me after a few conversations, that or they love me instantly and forever. I guess i'm just ambivalent towards the interview thing, the only reason this is up is because everyone else wrote theirs, and i supposed i was missing something. Well, there's my whining i guess. Whatevs

Bus stop

This picture is of the bus stop at night from quite a distance away. For this picture i changed around the saturation of colors in order to make it “look better”. I had to use my own aesthetic sense for when it was looking better, but I think it looks better than the original. Now I’m gonna try to find out how I can make this photo interesting. The lights in the distance obviously remove you from the scene. I think the focus of the picture is on the light coming from in between the two trees, almost watching like a voyeur on the bus stop in that distance. The completely empty bus stop in case you haven’t noticed. That’s kinda what I like about this picture: the lights. This is mainly due to a passion of mine for sodium lights. They’re one of the most beautiful things in our world today. Nothing else in any time period has made night feel that way. Out in the wild night is a dangerous time, and I guess in this picture you could still see night that way because you really can’t see what’s occurring on the grass too well. In the distance though, it looks cozy with the light emitted by those lamps. It doesn’t look scary, or like there is any danger, but instead like it’s somewhere you’d want to be. Sodium lights always have that feeling for me. I personally always associate it with good times at night hanging around schools and stuff. So I guess to me this picture stuck out because of it’s illustration of contrast, which I often like to point out in things I see.

Rosa Rico

Rosa Rico is, at 18 is the oldest of 4 children and two cats. The young Mexican-American enjoys reading and playing video games.
"I'm honest, trustworthy, nice, responsible, [and] reliable" she said with a smile, and some delay.
She is so trustworthy that if Nancy Kaplan-Biegel, her teacher, gave a test right now she "would be ok with it because she read the material".
However, she was rather reluctant to talk. A subject that she would gush out with and endless amount of words would have to be about her family. When asked for an anectdote she betrayed her usual smiling mask of complacancy and told a tale of when she got lost in an elevator.
When she was "like 4" she was "hella not thinking" and left the elevator without her mom. "Mom was downstairs" Rico said simply.
Unfortunately for her class though Rico has left us all behind in the elevator, she dropped last week due to her taking too many other classes and units.

Here is a picture of my blog

Hello, my name is Nick Donfrio, the one in the picture i think, and if you've stumbled on this page you are likely one of 2 things, someone who knows me in life, or my teacher who is essentially reading this over my shoulder. If you are someone else then i am incredibly pleased because that means that i have reached out to at least one other person. Hopefully not a spammer.....

Ok, why are you here? Good question. What i am going to do in this blog is post one picture about every week or so, and then get myself and other students at Skyline College to comment on the photo. I will start out with views of places and people around the campus, but eventually i will expand it to other places and people.

I hope to be able to show you some of the places that i hold dear, and ones that i think everyone should see. I believe i live in a very beautiful part of the world and i'll try to convince you of that.
Hopefully i will eventually be able to incorporate humourous pictures, but i'm not sure how i will do that. Trust me i will find a way.
